Play Cricket

If you have ever passed by one of the idyllic Cambridge colleges on a glorious summer’s evening and seen a game of cricket being played in the grounds, or overheard a group of sweaty men (or women) dressed in whites laughing happily in a pub beer garden, there is a chance it was us. We are part of a community of local teams that are fortunate enough to use pitches prepared by full time professional groundsmen in some of the most beautiful settings in and around Cambridge.

We are a friendly, inclusive club with players with a wide variety of skill levels. Most of our players have played cricket before, although we have also seen a number of hockey players pick up the required skills quickly. Usually though we recruit those who played a bit at school but haven’t played since and fancy giving it another go.  However, we are always happy to hear from any new players of any standard – even complete and total beginners.

We welcome both male and female players, as well as players from a wide variety of backgrounds and identities. The age of players at this level ranges from mid teens to mid 60s. Although we encourage the good manners of socialising with the opposition in the pub after the game, we’re not a drinking club – teetotallers are welcome.

Team selection is first-come, first-served. If you are interested, you will be added to the club mailing list and you can play by being one of the first 11 to respond. To get on this mailing list please email Ralph on Ralph.woodward @ btinternet.com

Safety Notice: You play at your own risk. Although we provide the basic equipment, cricket balls are hard and they can hurt. Catching a ball hurts less than dropping one, and when batting, hitting the ball hurts less than being hit by the ball.

    Hi,

I made a couple of appearances for the sharks last season. Played wickie both times.

I’m very interested in playing more matches this coming season. Could you please add me to the mailing list?
